Stowmarket Foodbank

Provides emergency food parcels to individuals and families who are in crisis 

The Stowmarket and Area Foodbank was launched in 2012 to provide emergency food parcels to individuals and families from Stowmarket and surrounding areas who are in crisis.

We work with local organisations to identify individuals and families who can benefit from our services (this also helps us reduce fraud). We have 55 professional referral agencies that send people to us.

We have collection points in, Asda, Tesco, Lidl, Stowupland Garage and the local Co-op stores in Stowmarket and Needham Market, Elmswell, Woolpit and Haughley.

The demand for help from the foodbank increased during the pandemic. Before the outbreak we were supporting an average of 60 families per month; with the unprecedented demand we are now handing out an average of 40 parcels a week.

Part of East Suffolk Council, Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority (SCPHA) protects public and animal health by providing checks on food and animal products imported to the Port of Felixstowe – Britain’s busiest container port – Harwich International Port and the Port of Ipswich. It ensures consignments are fit for human consumption and use by upholding high food standards, ship sanitation certification and infectious disease control.

Supply Chain Skills Development Fund – Suffolk County Council

The Supply Chain Skills Development Fund is a European Social Fund initiative in collaboration with Suffolk County Council and Norfolk County Council, providing grant funding to businesses across Suffolk and Norfolk supporting skills and economic growth. The SCSDF can fund up to 50% match of the training costs for each employee.

The aims of the Fund are:

To increase the skill levels of employed people to encourage progression in employment.

To increase the number of people with technical and job-specific skills, particularly at level 3 and above to support business growth.

To increase the skill levels of employed women and workers over 50 to encourage progression in employment and help address the gender and employment wage gap.

The Mix

We are a Suffolk-based youth work charity supporting young people aged between 9-25. We base our youth work out of our hubs in Stowmarket and Needham Market, within local Primary & Secondary schools, and out in communities within Mid Suffolk.

Founded in 2013, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary year. We provide a whole range of activities and programmes for young people – all for free!

Victoria has worked as a Registered Nurse for two decades; she started her Menopause Services company to provide menopause support for individuals. Providing menopause training and education in the workplace on general menopause awareness, menopause champion training and manager’s menopause training to support businesses to demonstrate the value of the workforce, ensure all are supported and support the mitigation of employee tribunals. Menopausal individuals are the fastest–growing workforce demographic and the socioeconomic impact is clear with over 14 million working days lost each year due to menopause symptoms.

Victoria has articles published in national healthcare journals and written a chapter for a menopause book. She delivers public speaking on all things menopause on a local, regional, and national level and is available to speak at your event.
